Planetarium FAQs

Click on the questions below for more information. But please contact us if you have any questions that are not answered here.

Q1. How many people can fit into the planetarium?

For primary age children we can accommodate up to 30 children inside the Dome with 2 -3 adults

For Secondary aged students and adults we can accommodate up to 25 people inside the Dome.

For special needs schools we suggest a maximum of 25 inside the Dome INCLUDING staff and carers.

In schools we ask that at least one member of staff is inside the Dome with the children during the show.

Wheelchairs can be accommodated in the Dome but they may reduce the capacity – an average sized wheelchair takes the space of 2 seated children.

Q2. What’s it like inside?

The planetarium is a portable structure which resembles a mini house – it has zippable doors for easy entry, allowing you to walk straight in and out. This is suitable for younger children who are scared of entering tight spaces – no tunnels and dark spaces here!

The planetarium dome is a light airy space, which can be used outside for carnivals and festivals. We have an extra cover which we use for the planetarium shows to make it dark and to reduce light levels. For younger age groups we gradually reduce the light levels enough not to be too dark but to be dark enough to see the stars, this way this introduces children who are uneasy about entering a dark room to enter while it is light and we gradually reduce the light levels but the children can still see in the darkened room. Teachers have commented that this is a great solution and pupils want to visit time and time again.

Q3. How long do the planetarium shows last?

Each show is dependent on the age of the audience. For younger age groups we recommend that the shows last for 20 – 30 mins, generally the shows last between 40 to 55 mins for older audiences. We create and edit our own bespoke shows so these can be tailored to last as long or as little as needed!
